The UK based, Morris Lubricants is entering into Indian market through its fully owned Indian subsidiary Paterson Lubricants India. The firm has chosen George Oakes, part of the Amalgamation Group, as the marketing and distribution partner in India. The organization already has two manufacturing offices in UK with a total capability of producing 50 million liters a year.
Andrew Wilkins, director, Paterson Enterprises, UK said, “To establish our presence in India, we are introducing a range of lubricants manufactured for passenger cars, commercial vehicles and two-wheelers. The Indian lubricant industry is estimated at 2.5 million kilolitres per annum and is valued at close to Rs 32,000 crore. It is expected to grow at 4-5% YoY. India is one of the fastest growing markets in the world and thus a very attractive destination for our growth. We realized that for the Indian market, unlike other countries, exports from the UK may not be the ideal solutions. Hence, we decided to indigenize the production of lubricants and also maximize the sourcing of raw material in India”.
Morris Lubricants hired the research firm, Rosefield DAA International Consultancy, Mumbai to do a market study for them and furthermore to recognize appropriate accomplices for the whole esteem chain.
The company will initially focus on the Indian automotive aftermarket in West and South regions of India. George Oakes has 36 branches in southern and western regions and is supplying to over 5,000 retailers.
Morris Lubricants, which takes into account different ventures including automotive, industrial, agriculture, will at first concentrate on the Indian automotive aftermarket. Currently, India is the third largest lubricant market in the world so they are planning to launch finest segment engine oil for Euro 4 and 6 markets and also semi-synthetic and synthetic motor oils for fuel efficient cars. The company also has a variety of products for the fast-growing motorcycle section also.
