The UK based Lyca Group is all set to enter the mobile virtual network operator market by launching its mobile service in India. They are planning to invest about 250 million pounds in India soon, including investments into its healthcare and other business plans.
“We are applying for the license and expecting to launch the business in India before the end of this year. The company would be looking at offering value added services to win the market. Our mobile business is there in 22 countries now and we are planning to launch in another 8 countries soon.” Allirajah Subaskaran, chairman of Lyca Group.
The Department of Telecom and the Telecom Regulatory Authority of India had approved the Mobile Virtual Network operator licensing process last year.
On the service to be offered through mobile virtual network operator, Subaskaran said that the company offers telecom service in 22 countries and there is no need for the customers to pay roaming charges when they use Lyca Mobile in such countries. Lyca Mobile is currently available in 22 countries. When customers of Lyca Mobile visit any of these countries, there will not be any roaming charges.” Subaskaran said. The company is already offering international SIM cards to Indian customers who plan to go on foreign trips. Regarding the company revenues, he said they had registered a turnover of Euro 1.6 billion.
The Lyca group is also entering the domestic health care segment with the launch of flagship daycare facility in Chennai. The company already runs two healthcare centers in London under the brand LycaHealth.
“We have invested 17 million pounds for the Westminster Healthcare. This is our flagship facility. We already have about 50 people working with us. In the next five years, we have committed investments about 100 million pounds. We will be targeting the top 2-3 per cent of the population here. Chennai is the health care capital of India.” LycaHealth CEO and Co-Founder, Manpreet S Gulati said.
